Stunning PNW  trails featuring expansive views of the Olympic Range and two significant grinds- one to the Buckhorn Wilderness boundary on the shoulder of the Mount Townsend and the other to the summit of Mt Zion.

The race starts with 1.5m of forest road to break up the field before turning onto trail. Enjoy the next 9.3 miles of fun single-track with creek crossings and GORGEOUS forests leading to AS#1-Silver Creek.

Leave Silver Creek and immediately head up the Little Quilcene trail, your biggest climb of the day, to Dirty Face Ridge. Enjoy dramatic views of the Olympic Range's Taylor, Baldy and Grey Wolf Ridge. After gaining 3,700' in 3.5 miles(!!!), you will reach the Wilderness boundary and get to enjoy some of the fastest single track of the day as you descend to the Rhodies Aid Station at mile 16.3.

You don't need to spend too much time at the Rhodies Aid Station as the next 5.2 miles is mostly downhill forest road to the Deadfall Creek Aid Station. This is a great time to regroup your legs for the second biggest climb to the summit of Mt Zion via the Deadfall Trail.

This next lung-burner features some steeeeep pitches, but you will be rewarded by the best downhill single track of the day to arrive at the Zion Aid Station(#4) at mile 26.72.

Leave Zion via the Sleepy Hollow Trail (no Headless Horseman here-that's New England). These last five miles are very enjoyable and runnable with only 774' of gain (we say "only" but you know you will feel every bit of it now!) and over 1,000' of decent.

Arrive back at Race HQ where everyone will be cheering for you as you do your victory lap around the quarry!!!

Enjoy 3.5 miles of lovely single track on the Sleepy Hollow Trail, including your first big climb, to arrive at #1 Aid Station- Zion. Your crew is welcome to join you here.

The next 3.8 miles of forest road has a few rollers, but is overall downhill to the next aid station. This is a good time to regroup your legs before the monster climb to the top of Mt. Zion!

After leaving Deadfall Creek Aid Station, you immediately start climbing. About a mile in you will get a short downhill/rolling section before starting the last 1.8 mile grind to the top of Mt Zion. A stop on the way to admire the view from the overlook is recommended!

After the summit of Mt Zion, you will hit the best downhill of the day! At just over 2 miles long, this is your chance to really make up some time!

After hitting the bottom of the Mt Zion trail, you will revisit the Zion Aid Station and continue on forest road the short 1.56 miles to the finish line!

Volunteers are an integral part of our race weekend. We can't do this without them! And many feel it's just as much fun as racing.

We have all sorts of volunteer opportunities, before, during and after the race. Opportunities for those with and without experience. Aid Stations, Course Marking, Course Sweeping, Course Runners, Timers, Parking, Race HQ Set Up and Post-race Meal Service.

Volunteers get great perks, too, like race vouchers & swag.

Join Us! Sign up & share your interest

HERE!!

CAMPING
Tents, camper vans and small RVs allowed.

Bring chairs to join us around the campfire both nights (burn bans permitting)
Port-a-Potties will be provided-no other facilities/water, so plan accordingly. Pack it in-pack it out.

Please take Note: No dogs are allowed at either Race HQ(Camping) or on the course. We love nothing more than sharing the trails with our dogs, but unfortunately, our insurance and permit do not allow for dogs at the race.

Race HQ is not a campground but a retired quarry that on most days is used as a shooting range.

GETTING HERE

Give yourself a little extra time, especially if you plan to take a ferry. The race HQ is in the Olympic National Forest. Plan on a 30 minute drive from 101 in Quilcene, WA. You do not need a special veicle, but the road will be rough in places. so go slow and be alert to changing road surface conditions.

  • Head west on Lords Lake Loop Road for approximately 3.4 miles
  • At Lords Lake, turn LEFT onto Little Quilcene Road (FS Road 28). Go straight for approximately 4.2 miles
  • Turn RIGHT to continue on FS Road 28/Gold Creek Road. Go straight for 1.3 miles
  • SLIGHT RIGHT at the form onto FS Road 2810. Go straight for 3.2 miles
  • Turn LEFT on FS Road 2810-070*. The parking area will be 0.4 miles down this road
